Rogers Wavelength brings next-generation, high-speed optical network

Next-Gen High-Speed Optical Network

Leveraging an extensive fibre footprint from coast to coast, Rogers continues to deploy our nationwide, next-generation optical transport network, capable of delivering up to 800 Gbps per wavelength channel.

Driven by surging bandwidth demand from customers for wireless and wireline services, Rogers became one of the early adopters of CDC (Colorless, Direction-less, Contentionless)- Flexgrid ROADM architecture for optical networking. Using this architecture, which started in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and extended to the western provinces and central regions, Rogers is now executing a multi-year plan to uplift the optical transport network, significantly benefiting Canadian consumers and businesses.

CDC Flexgrid ROADMs are fundamental building blocks of the next-gen photonic layer in optical networking. They enable the highest degree of scalability and flexibility, allowing Rogers to increase speed, reduce cost per bit and turn up services faster, all while enhancing resilience.

This network plan further demonstrates Rogers' commitment to investing in our network, driving innovation, and bringing leading-edge technologies to Canadian consumers and businesses.

Wavelength Services for Businesses

The next-gen optical transport network uplift well positions Rogers to better support business customers by providing high-speed Wavelength services, connecting customer sites to data centres, and delivering commercial Wavelength services directly to customers from 10 Gbps up to 400 Gbps.

Under Wavelength product offerings, Rogers provides competitively priced standard linear services and bespoke services tailored for customers' specific needs with customized routing and built-in protection to guarantee diversity and maximize service uptime while minimizing latency.

Rogers' Wavelength service is available to business customers over Rogers' extensive, ever-increasing fibre footprint of over 20,412 locations and is connected to a strategic selection of data centers and carrier hotels in Canada and the US.

While Rogers' extensive Canadian network is focused on Canada's domestic metro, regional, and national connectivity solutions, Rogers's international interconnections with crucial strategic global partners provide Wavelength service solutions beyond Canadian borders.
