Rogers Home Phone comes with a Long Distance Alert feature, so anytime a long distance call comes in, you’ll hear 1 long ring and 2 short ones.
To turn this feature ON using your home phone, simply pick up your handset and dial *49. You will then hear two beeps confirming that the long-distance ring has been activated.
To turn it OFF, just dial *49 as well. The feature is deactivated as soon as you hear two beeps.
Good to know:
- If you have a fax machine, make sure to disable the long distance ring as some fax machines may perceive the long distance call as an incoming fax.
- Have Call Waiting? When you’re on the phone and a long distance call comes in, you’ll hear the same notification beep as a local call.
