Understanding power preferences on Rogers Xfinity TV

Learn how to change your Power Preferences and use the Power Saver option in Rogers Xfinity TV to save energy. The Power Saver feature lets you set energy saving mode and restart options to help save energy used by your cable box. 

Understanding your power preferences

You can get your wired Rogers Xfinity Entertainment Box to automatically go into Power Saver mode by setting a four-hour timer for the power savings feature through Power Preferences from Device Settings. 

  1. Press the Rogers or Menu button on your remote. 

  1. Navigate to Settings (gear icon) using the arrow buttons and press OK. 

  1. Use the down arrow to highlight Device Settings and press OK. 

  1. Use the down arrow button to highlight Power Preferences and press OK. 

  1. You'll have two options to choose from: 

    • Power Saver: This will power down your TV player. You'll be presented with a confirmation screen. 

    • Restart: This will restart your TV player. After you click this option, you'll be presented with a confirmation screen 

  1. Press EXIT to return to programming 

 

Note: A wireless Rogers Xfinity Entertainment Box will automatically go into Power Saver mode when the POWER button on the remote control is pushed.

The Power Saver feature on Rogers Xfinity TV  helps you save money on electricity by making sure your Rogers Xfinity Entertainmentboxes are powered down when they’re not in use. Read on to learn more about this function.  

Activating the Power Saver feature 

The Power Saver feature automatically shuts off your Rogers Xfinity Entertainment Box after it's been inactive for a set amount of time.  

This feature is on by default on allRogers Xfinity Entertainment Boxes and is set to 4 hours, but to change the settings: 

  1. Press the Rogers button on your Rogers Xfinity Voice Remote 

  1. Select Settings (the gear icon). 

  1. Select Device Settings. 

  1. Select Power Preferences. 

  1. Update your settings from there. 

Note: If you are recording a program and the Power Saver feature turns on, this won't affect your recording. The Cloud PVR will continue to record even if your Rogers Xfinity Entertainment box is powered down.
