Turn on band steering with the Hitron CGN AC Family WiFi Modems

Band steering allows the Hitron CGN AC Family WiFi Modems – CGN3-ACR, CGN3-AMR, CGN3ACSMR and CGNM-3552 – to seamlessly connect compatible devices between the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network frequencies in your home, ensuring you always have the best connection. Below, find out how to enable and disable band steering with the Hitron CGN AC Family WiFi Modems.

  1. Open a web browser on a device connected to your home network.
  2. Visit http://192.168.0.1.
  3. Sign in using the following credentials:
    Username: cusadmin
    Password: password (or the WiFi password you previously set up for your modem)
    • Note: If you’re unable to sign in, you can either factory reset your modem or contact us for assistance.
  4. Select Wireless from the main menu.
  5. Select Advanced.
  6. Enable Band Steering by selecting the “Enabled” button beside it.
    • Note: To disable it, select the “Disabled” button beside it.
  7. Select Save Changes to confirm.

Note: This process will automatically rename your new network name after the 2.4 GHz frequency. If you want to change this to the 5 GHz frequency, you can do so by visiting this article on finding and resetting your WiFi credentials.
