What is a Rule?

A Rule lets you create actions that are either:

  • scheduled (e.g., turning on lights automatically during weekdays at dusk); or
  • event-triggered (e.g., lock doors automatically when system is armed) actions.

Managing Contacts

Both types – scheduled and event-triggered – can be set up to automatically send a text and/or email message to your contacts when a Rule is triggered.

Example:

  • Automatically send a text message to a specified contact when the front door opens on weekdays between 3pm and 6pm.
  • Automatically take a picture and send it in an email attachment to a specified contact whenever movement is detected in the downstairs hallway.
  1. Sign in to the mobile app using your MyRogers credentials.
  2. Select the More
  3. Select Contacts
  4. Add contacts or select the contact you wish to modify.

Rules fall into 3 main categories: Critical Conditions, Protection and Convenience. Here are some examples of rules that you can create for each category:

Critical Conditions

Get a text and/or email notice of potentially life- or property-threatening situations/events. For example:

  1. When my Water Leak Sensor detects water, send me a text.
  2. If the Security System connectivity is lost, send me an email.
  3. When my Smoke Sensor detects smoke, send me a text.

Key devices: System / Touchpad, Carbon Monoxide Sensor, Smoke Sensor, and Water Leak Sensor

Protection

Proactively enhance your home’s security. For example:

  1. Record a video when my Motion Sensor detects motion.
  2. Take a picture when my Front Door opens anytime between 9am and 5pm, Monday – Friday.
  3. Lock all Doors when my system is Armed Stay after 11pm.

Key devices: Camera, Door Lock, Motion Sensor, Door/Window Sensor, and Glass Break Sensor

Convenience

Enhance comfort and convenience as well as potential energy savings. For example:

  1. Adjust thermostat to save energy when my system is Armed Away.
  2. Remind me to take out the garbage when the Front Door is opened on Thursdays between 7am and 9am.
  3. Turn on the Light Bulb in my hallway lamp when my hallway Motion Sensor detects motion between midnight and 5am.
  4. Turn on my porch Light Bulb at dusk and turn off again 5 hours later.

Key devices: Light Bulb, In-Wall Light Dimmer / Switch, Lamp Module, Small Appliance Module, Thermostat, Door/Window Sensor, and Motion Sensor.
