How to change your WiFi password on a Hitron modem
Getting started

Access the Hitron’s admin console to change or verify your WiFi password. To do so, you’ll need:

Access to a web browser.

The Hitron CGN2 or CGNM-2250 modem.

Changing your WiFi password with the Hitron modem

Connect your device to your WiFi modem via a wired or wireless connection.

Wired: Connect your device to your WiFi modem using an ethernet cable.

Wireless: Connect your device to your WiFi modem wirelessly with a web browser if you already know your WiFi password.

Open a web browser, type 192.168.0.1 in the address bar, and press Enter.

Enter the following default settings to access the modem settings and select Login:

Username: cusadmin

Password: password (Enter the current password (case sensitive) found on the white sticker of your modem or your current modem admin password)

If you can’t log in, factory reset your modem using the steps in that section.

Select the Wireless menu option from the left side of the page.

Depending on your modem model, proceed to the following steps:
For the Hitron CGNM-2250 model:
After logging in to your modem’s admin console:

Select 2.4G, 5G, or Guest network at the top of the page to select a network to change the password for.

Under Multiple SSID Setting, type a new network password in the Pass phrase field.

Select Save before closing the window.
For the Hitron CGN2 model:
After logging in to your modem’s admin console:

Select the Security tab.

Check the Pre-shared Key field to find your current WiFi password.

If you’d like to change your WiFi password, enter the new password in the Pre-shared Key field, and select Apply.

If you just want to find your password without changing it, select Cancel.

Once you’ve applied your changes, you may be disconnected. You’ll need to use your new password to re-connect to the WiFi network.

If you still see the WiFi modem settings, select Log Out at the top-right corner of the page and close your browser.
For all Hitron modems:
After verifying or changing your WiFi password:

If you're connected using an Ethernet cable, disconnect it from your device and from your modem so that you can test your WiFi’s connectivity.

If you changed your password, don’t forget to update it on all your other devices.
Factory reset your modem
If you can’t connect to your WiFi modem or log in to access its settings, you can reset the modem to its factory default settings. This will restore its original network name(s) and password(s).
To restore your modem and its default password:

Locate the small pin-hole reset button on the back of your modem.

Push and hold the button with a paperclip or pin and hold for 15 seconds.

The lights on the modem will begin to flash if the reset was successful.
