What is not a Commercial Electronic Message?
Messages that contain information about important product changes, confirmations and service outages are ok. These messages can be voicemails, Facebook posts, or tweets.
Don’t you need my consent to send me a Commercial Electronic Messages?
Yes, we need either your express consent or your implied consent to send you these messages. Express consent means that you have agreed to receive our messages. We have your implied consent if you are either a current or former client. We also have implied consent if you have ever inquired about services. Implied consent is usually valid for two years.
Why don’t service messages from Rogers contain an opt-out link?
Important updates are often included in service messages. They don’t include an opt-out link because these messages aren’t considered consumer electronic messages according to the anti-spam legislation.
Can I opt out of service messages?
Unfortunately, no. We use service messages to notify you about outages and important changes to your service. You can’t opt-out from getting them because we’re required by law to send these types of messages to you. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
How can I stop receiving these CEMs via email and social media?
You can click on the Unsubscribe button at the bottom of the email or social media message. Then follow the instructions on the page that appears to stop receiving CEMs through that channel.
How can I stop receiving marketing text messages?
When you receive an SMS, reply STOP to the message.
How can I stop receiving telemarketing calls?
You can contact us and ask to have your number placed on our internal do not call list. Upon request, we are required to maintain a customer’s phone number on the internal do not call list for up to 3 years and 14 days. The CRTC maintains a National Do Not Call List. You can register your number with them to be removed from Telemarketing from all companies.
