Do:
Shelter is good. If your home has an overhang that provides shelter from the weather, it'll minimize rain or snow sticking to the camera’s lens.
Install cameras 8–10 feet from the ground. This height is low enough to capture fine details but high enough to be out of easy reach.
Power adapters must be plugged in indoors. The power adapter isn't weatherproof. It provides the camera’s connection to WiFi and must be plugged in inside your home and within WiFi range.
Note: We recommend placing the power adapter within 3 rooms of the Rogers Xfinity Gateway or Rogers Xfinity WiFi Boost Pods . To get the best video and connectivity, place the power adapter where it's visible, and not blocked by furniture or other objects
Don't:
Plugging a power adapter into an outdoor plug in a waterproof enclosure can severely impair the camera’s Wi-Fi performance. Plus, the adapter can be damaged due to the elements.
Don’t point cameras directly at the sun. Bright light causes glare and high contrast in your footage and makes it hard to see what’s going on. Think about the sun’s movement and angle your cameras for indirect light.
Note: Remember to work safely. Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations on best safety practices:
Don’t drill in wet conditions.
Don’t drill through door or window frames.
Don’t drill into siding during sub-freezing weather as it may cause cracking.
