Easy setup guide - Install your Rogers Xfinity Motion Sensor

Follow these steps to install your Rogers Xfinity Motion Sensor using the Rogers Xfinity app

Make sure to install your sensor indoors in the corner of a room. We recommend mounting it 6 to 8 feet (1.8 - 2.4m) off the floor.

To avoid damaging the sensor, keep it away from heating and cooling sources, direct sunlight, and high-voltage electrical lines. For best performance, avoid aiming your sensor at a window, since drafts can cause unnecessary motion alerts.

How to install your Rogers Xfinity Motion Sensor

To make sure your sensor works properly once installed, choose an unobstructed corner in a room about 6 to 8 feet from the floor.
Reminder: to prevent false motion detection, avoid placing the sensor near heating/cooling sources or windows.

Once you’ve picked the right spot to install your motion sensor, follow these steps to mount it.

  1. Review the sensor placement recommendations and select Next in the Rogers Xfinity app.
  2. Holding the Rogers Xfinity Motion Sensor upright, push up on the body to slide it off the battery cover.
  3. Mount the battery cover on the wall using the double-sided tape provided. Place the tape on the battery cover first and press it firmly into place in the corner you’ve chosen to mount it. In the Rogers Xfinity app, select Next to proceed.
  4. To put the sensor into walk test mode for 15 minutes, slide the sensor onto the battery cover until you hear a click. Select Continue to proceed.

You’re now ready to do a walk test.

How to do a walk test

A walk test lets you check that your sensor is detecting motion properly in the area where you’ve installed it. Doing a walk test once a week can help make sure nothing is interfering with your sensor.

After you’ve closed the battery cover, the LED will flash for 2 minutes. The sensor then goes into walk test mode for 15 minutes. In walk test mode, the LED lights up for every motion detected. After 15 minutes, the sensor automatically returns to normal mode and the LED won’t blink when motion is detected.

Walk across the far end of the coverage pattern in both directions. The LED should light up for 2-3 seconds each time your motion is detected.
