Can I use different pod models together?

Different pod models (Gen 1 and Gen 2) aren't compatible with each other. To remove a pod, follow these steps:

  2. Select the Connect tab.

Where can pods be installed?

Keep the following in mind when installing your pod(s):

  • Only use pods indoors.
  • The ideal spot for your pod is halfway between your gateway modem and the WiFi problem area.
  • Avoid placing your pod in the WiFi problem area. Don’t place your pod near other pods, metal objects, speakers, mirrored surfaces and appliances that can interfere with the WiFi signal.
  • Avoid areas with moisture such as directly next to a window or door (where the pod might be exposed to rain or condensation), near a bathtub, sink or washing machine.
  • Don’t place your pod inside or behind cabinets and furniture.
  • If you have additional pods, try moving or removing them. Each pod should connect to the Gateway rather than another pod. If too many pods are close together, your device may have difficulty choosing which one is best, resulting in lag or slow internet.
  • Avoid placing your pod close to heat sources such as a radiator, fireplace, heater or stove.
  • Pods shouldn't be plugged into extension cords or wall outlets connected to a switch which can be accidentally turned off.

What speed can I expect when connected to a pod?

While the total speed to your home for all your connected devices is delivered through the modem and any pods all working together, first generation Rogers Xfinity WiFi Boost Pods support download speeds of up to 200 Mbps per pod in those hard-to-reach places. The second-generation model supports download speeds of up to 600 Mbps per pod. Regardless of which model you use, each pod can support a wide range of online activities for the devices connected to the pod.

For example, 25 Mbps per device is the standard recommended speed for smooth and reliable 4K video streaming. Video streaming at lower resolution quality and other activities such as surfing, or emails will require much less speed per device.

Keep in mind, factors such as building materials in your home and the capabilities of your device--plus the placement of your Rogers Xfinity Gateway and pods--also affect WiFi speed and performance.

How do I connect a device to my Rogers Xfinity WiFi Boost Pod?

Simply connect your device to your home WiFi network and you’ll automatically be routed through the best WiFi access points based on real-time conditions. Depending on where other devices are connected in your home and sources of signal interference, the best connection at the time may not be the closest pod, but may b.e directly to your Rogers Xfinity Gateway itself.
