How to make sure your device works on the Rogers 4G or 5G network

We’re retiring our 3G mobile network on July 31, 2025 to pave the way for updated technology. To make sure your device works with our network, follow these steps to check your phone's operating system, network and VoLTE settings.

These steps will work for most devices. To view steps for your device, use our interactive device guides. Search for your device name and add key words like ‘software update’ for more accurate results. 

Step 1: Update to the latest software

Apple: go to Settings and select General. Then select Software update

Android: Follow these steps depending on your device.

  • Samsung: Go to Settings and then Software update. Select Download and install
  • Google Pixel: Go to Settings, and then System. Select Software updates and then System update.
  • Motorola: Go to Settings and then System updates. Select Check for updates
  • Huawei: Go to Settings and then System & updates. Select Software updates
  • LG: Go to Settings, then System, followed by Update center. Select Software Update and then Check now for update
  • TCL: Go to Settings, then System. Select System Update and then Check for updates.
  • TCL Flip: Go to Settings and then Software update.

Step 2: Update your network settings

Apple

  1. Go to Settings and select
  2. Select Cellular Data options and enable 4G/5G.
  3. Under Voice & Data, select LTE and toggle VoLTE ON.

Android

  1. Go to Settings and select Network & Internet or Connections.
  2. Select Mobile network and then select Preferred network type
  3. Choose 4G / LTE / 5G and toggle VoLTE ON

Step 3: Restart your phone

Restart your phone. If the signal icon is LTE, 4G, 4G+ or 5G, you’re good to go! If the signal icon is 3G or H+, contact us for assistance.
