Are other iOS users you send iMessages to saying they don’t see your expected outgoing display number? This can happen when iMessage has stored a different number for your Apple ID because:
- Your telephone number was ported from a different carrier and your iPhone number changed from a temporary number.
- A recent number change
- Your Apple ID is linked to more than one device/phone number.
Run through the following steps to solve the issue.
- Turn iMessage off.
- Tap Settings.
- Select Messages.
- Toggle iMessages to Off.
- Turn FaceTime off.
- Tap Settings.
- Select FaceTime.
- Toggle FaceTime to Off.
- Restart the device.
- Toggle both iMessage and FaceTime On.
- Send someone a text message to confirm if issue has been resolved.
- If issue persists, continue to next step.
- Sign out from iMessage / FaceTime.
- Tap Settings
- Tap Messages then select Send & Receive. If there are multiple phone numbers on this screen, make sure that the one you want to display is selected. Continue only if necessary.
- Tap your Apple ID, then select Sign Out.
- Tap FaceTime.
- Tap your Apple ID, then select Sign Out.
- Repeat step 1 and 2.
- Repeat step 4.
- Sign-in to iMessage / FaceTime
- Tap Settings
- Tap Messages then select Send & Receive.
- Tap your Use your Apple ID for iMessage, then select Sign In
- Tap FaceTime
- Tap your Use your Apple ID for FaceTime, then select Sign In
- Send someone a text message to confirm if issue has been resolved.
