What is a long-distance charge?
A long-distance charge is the premium charged on voice calls that travel over extended geographic distances.
When do I get charged long-distance?
Outgoing Calling:
If you dial a number that's outside your outgoing local calling area, then it is a long-distance call. Your outgoing local calling area is determined by your physical location—the area you are in at any given moment. Your wireless number is irrelevant! If you dial a number that's local to your physical location, then it is a local call.
Incoming Calling:
All calls that you receive while physically outside your incoming local calling area are long-distance. Your incoming local calling area is the area or geographic boundary associated with your wireless number. The number calling you is irrelevant! Note: All calls that you receive on your wireless device while you are physically within your incoming local calling area are local.
Do long-distance charges apply when checking my voice messages?
If you retrieve your voice messages from within your local calling area, no long-distance charges apply. Retrieving voice messages from outside your local calling area will incur long-distance charges.
Retrieving your voice messages from within Canada and the U.S. outside your local calling area costs are based on your plan's long-distance rate. Retrieving your messages from other countries will incur roaming charges.
