When you use an Apple device or service, Apple automatically links it with your Apple ID. If you want to remove this link between a device and your Apple ID, such as when you’re replacing an older device or switching to a phone on a different platform, here’s how.
- Sign in to the Apple ID site with your Apple ID login information.
- Scroll down to Devices and select the linked device you want to remove from your Apple ID.
- Select Remove. You will get a confirmation pop-up.
- Select Remove this iPhone/ Remove this iPad/Remove in the pop-up window to confirm the removal. You can also click Cancel if you’ve changed your mind.
Once these steps are completed, the device will no longer be linked to your Apple ID and can be linked to another one.
