Use Rogers Xfinity TV Parental Controls to block mature programming or other sensitive content that may be unsuitable for some viewers. Learn how to set Parental Controls for programming on channels, Rogers On Demand and Pay Per View.
Getting Started
Set a Parental Control PIN
Parental Control PINs enable Safe Browse and Safe Search to prevent content that may be sensitive to some viewers from being searched or watched.
- Use a voice command like “Parental Controls” to open the Parental Controls menu or press the Rogers button on your Rogers Xfinity Voice Remote, then Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls.
- Select Parental Control PIN. If you haven’t created one yet, you will be asked to enter a new one.
- Enter your preferred 4-digit Parental Control PIN, then press the OK button.
- Re-enter your new PIN when prompted, then press the OK button to confirm it.
Set a Purchase PIN
The On Demand Purchase PIN enables Purchase Protection, which password-protects all Rogers Xfinity TV purchases of On Demand or Pay Per View programs.
- Press the Rogers button on your Rogers Xfinity Voice Remote to open the main menu.
- Select Settings (the gear icon).
- Select Purchase PIN.
- Highlight Purchase PIN and press the OK button to toggle the feature On.
- Enter a four-digit Purchase PIN when prompted.
- Re-enter your new Purchase PIN to confirm. Your Purchase PIN is now set.
Access Common Sense scores
The Common Sense age-appropriateness score gives parents a snapshot of which age group a program is appropriate for. Here's how to access it.
- Select the program you're interested in. The Common Sense age-appropriateness score will display to the right of the title, if available.
- Press the Last button on your Rogers Xfinity Voice Remote to return to the Guide.
Access the Parental Guide
The Parental Guide provides basic insight for parents on many titles.
- Select the program you're interested in.
- Select Parental Guide below the program's description, if available. More details about its rating will display.
- Press the Last button on your Ignite Voice Remote to return to the program's main page.
Manage your Parental Controls
We've made it easier for you to manage your parental controls for a stress-free entertainment experience.
Parental Control Level
Limit access to content based on what’s appropriate for your viewers.
- Press the Rogers button on your Rogers Xfinity voice remote.
- Select the gear icon, then Parental Controls.
- Select Parental Control Level.
- Choose the safety level that works for you:
- Medium Safety - hides titles and descriptions of sensitive content without the need for a PIN
- Little Kids: 2–6 Years - requires a PIN to watch any show rated C8 or higher and any movie rated PG or higher.
- Kids: 7–12 Years - requires a PIN to watch any show or movie rated 14A or higher.
- Teens: 13–17 Years - requires a PIN to watch any show rated 18+ and any movie rated
Temporarily turning off parental controls
You can set a timer to temporarily suspend all parental control enforcement. Once the timer ends, all previously set parental controls will resume. Note: the Parental Control PIN is not affected by this action.
- Use a voice command like “Parental Controls,” or press the Rogers button on your Rogers Xfinity Voice Remote, then select Settings (the gear icon) and Parental Controls.
- Select Snooze PIN.
- Select the amount of time you want to set (i.e., 1 hour, 2 hours or 4 hours).
- To stop the timer, select Off.
Turning your Parental Control PIN on or off
Turning off your Parental Control PIN removes previously set password protection from across all content.
- Use a voice command like “Parental Controls” to open the Parental Controls menu, or press the Rogers button on your Rogers Xfinity Voice Remote, then Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls.
- Highlight Parental Control PIN and press the OK button to toggle the feature On or Off.
- If you’re turning it off, enter your 4-digit PIN when prompted, then press the OK button to confirm.
Checking your PIN history
Find out if your Parental Control PIN has been challenged, and if so, when.
- Use a voice command like “Parental Controls,” or press the Rogers button on your Rogers Xfinity Voice Remote, then select Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls.
- Select PIN History. The statuses of your System Default Settings, Parental Controls and PIN Challenges will display. The number of PIN challenges entered includes all PIN challenges, both successful and unsuccessful.
- Select PIN Challenges to view more details about each challenge, including the date and time.
Safe Browse
Depending on the level of protection you choose, Safe Browse hides the titles of programs and menus that may be sensitive to some viewers, in program listings.
- Press the Rogers button on your Rogers Xfinity TV
- Select the gear icon, then Parental Controls.
- Scroll to and select Safe Browse.
- Choose your safety preference:
- Low Safety: block adult programs and movies from showing in search results
- Medium Safety: hide titles of adult programs and menus
- High Safety: hide titles of NR, R, 18+ and adult programs and menus.

Lock content
You can lock content by movie or TV rating, channel, title, On Demand status or app. Once locked, this content will require your Parental Control PIN to be accessed.
Movie or TV Rating Locks
- Use a voice command like “Parental Controls,” or press the Rogers button on your Rogers Xfinity Voice Remote, then select Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls.
- Select Movie Rating Locks or TV Rating Locks.
- Select the rating(s) you want to lock. Once selected, the lock icon next to the rating will change from unlocked to locked.
- To unlock a rating, highlight it and press the OK button, then enter your Parental Control PIN when prompted. Press the OK button again to confirm.
Channel Locks
- Use a voice command like “Parental Controls,” or press the Rogers button on your Rogers Xfinity Voice Remote, then select Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls.
- Select Channel Locks.
- Select the channel(s) you want to lock. Once selected, the lock icon next to the channel will change from unlocked to locked.
- To unlock a channel, highlight it and press the OK button, then enter your Parental Control PIN when prompted. Press the OK button again to confirm.
Title Locks
- Use a voice command like “Parental Controls,” or press the Rogers button on your Rogers Xfinity Voice Remote, then select Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls.
- Select Title Locks.
- Select the title(s) you want to lock. Once selected, the lock icon next to the title will change from unlocked to locked.
- To unlock a title, highlight it and press the OK button, then enter your Parental Control PIN when prompted. Press the OK button again to confirm.
On Demand Lock
- Use a voice command like “Parental Controls,” or press the Rogers button on your Rogers Xfinity Voice Remote, then select Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls.
- Highlight On Demand, then use the OK button to toggle the lock on or off.
- If you’re unlocking On Demand, enter your Parental Control PIN when prompted, then press the OK button to confirm
Application Locks
- Use a voice command like “Parental Controls,” or press the Rogers button on your Rogers Xfinity Voice Remote, then select Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls.
- Select Application Locks.
- Select the app(s) you want to lock. Once selected, the lock icon next to the app will change from unlocked to locked.
- To unlock an app, highlight it and press the OK button, then enter your Parental Control PIN when prompted. Press the OK button again to confirm.
Set your lock schedules
You can lock access to Rogers Xfinity TV during specific dates and times.
- Use a voice command like “Parental Controls,” or press the Rogers button on your Rogers Xfinity Voice Remote, then select Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls.
- Select Day and Time Locks.
- Select the day(s) of the week that you want to lock, then press the OK button to confirm.
- Select the start and end times that you want to lock, then press the OK button to confirm.
Reset your Parental Controls
Reset your Parental Controls to erase all its settings and start fresh. Note: this does not affect your Parental Control PIN.
- Use a voice command like “Parental Controls,” or press the Rogers button on your Rogers Xfinity Voice Remote, then select Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls.
- Scroll to the bottom of the menu and select Reset Parental Controls.
- Select Confirm.
- Enter your Parental Control PIN when prompted, then press the OK button to confirm.

Reset your Parental Controls and PIN
This will remove all of your current Parental Control settings and reset your PIN on all your Rogers Xfinity EntertainmentTM Boxes and your Rogers Xfinity Stream app.
- Sign into your MyRogers account.
- Under Residential, select TV.
- Under Rogers Xfinity Entertainment Box Settings, select Reset Parental Controls & PIN.
- When prompted, select Continue.
- A success message will appear.
Good to know: You’ll need to individually reprogram each Rogers Xfinity Entertainment Box and app via the settings menu.
