Multi-factor authentication for Rogers Yahoo email

Security for your Rogers Yahoo email account just got better!

You can add a wireless recovery number when you sign in and enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) for enhanced security. In the future, when you sign in from a new device, we’ll verify it’s you by texting a security code to that number.

You can also skip this option by selecting “Ask me later.” You’ll be asked to add a recovery number again next time you sign in, or you can add one in your account settings.

Why am I being asked for a wireless recovery number when I log in to my email?

This is an enhanced security measure to help protect your Rogers Yahoo email account from unauthorized access.

If you access your Rogers email through an app or third party, you’ll need to sign in to Rogers Member Centre in your browser to add a recovery number.

How does MFA work?

When you log in to your Rogers Yahoo email with MFA enabled, you may be asked to provide a unique security code texted to your wireless recovery number to confirm it’s you.

Passwords and security questions are the same type of “factor”—something you remember. These can be stolen and shared without your permission. Texting a code to your mobile number is a different type of factor—something you have. Unless the person trying to log in to your account has access to your phone to get the verification code, they won’t be able to access your account using your information.
