Inseego MiFi 8000 Set up Guide

If this is a new device and phone number, you won't have to activate the SIM card as it comes activated for you.

If this is a new device on an existing phone line, you can activate the new SIM card on your MyRogers account. If you aren't visit our activate SIM card support page for steps.

Follow these steps to take the battery out of the device and insert the SIM card.

1. The back cover of the device will pop off using the battery removal groove at the top of edge of the back cover.
2. Once the cover is off, take out the battery using the divot.
3. Slide the SIM card into the SIM card slot. Put the SIM card in with the contacts down, putting the angled corner in first.
4. Once the SIM card is in, put the battery back in so the gold contacts match, and then snap the cover back on so the notches align.

Follow these steps to power on your mobile hotspot.

1. Press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds. The Power button is at the top right of the device if you are looking at the screen.
2. You can also turn off the device by holding the Power button for 3 seconds.
3. Once the device is on, select your preferred language.
4. A short tutorial will be presented to you. If you want, you can hit the Home icon at the top right of the screen.

Follow these steps to find your default WiFi name and password.

1. On the touch screen tap WiFi Name and Password.
2. This will open a screen that shows you’re your WiFi network name (SSID) and the current password.
3. Go to the WiFi controls on the device you want to connect to the mobile hotspot and tap on the network name and input the password

Once your device is connected to your WiFi network, you are able to change your WiFi network name and password. Follow the steps below to make those changes.

1. Connect your device or computer to the MiFi 8000 Hotspot.
2. Open an internet browser on the device and go to http://my.MiFi or http://192.168.1.1.
3. Click Sign In in the upper right corner of the screen and sign in with your password. The default password is your WiFi password.
4. Select the WiFi option.
5. Select the Primary Network tab.
6. To change your WiFi network name, select the Primary Network Name (SSID) text box and enter the new WiFi name.
7. To change your WiFi password, select the Password text box and enter the new password.
8. Select Save Changes.
9. Once you save the changes, you will be disconnected from your WiFi network. Connect again using the new network name and password.
