What is a Monthly Data Add-on?

A Monthly Data Add-on lets you easily manage your changing data needs and offers you the flexibility to add more data anytime, without having to change your plan. Just text DATA to 222, choose the data option that’s right for you, and you’re set!

You can add a Monthly Data Add-on both before and after you go over your plan’s monthly data limit. However, if you do so after you reach your plan’s data limit, you will still be responsible for any data overage charges you incurred before adding the add-on.

The data add-on will be added to your account immediately, and will stay on your account every month until you wish to cancel it. You can cancel a data add-on anytime when you no longer need . If you are on a Shared plan, the data will be shared between all the lines on your plan.”

I received a text telling me I have options to add more data. Why did I receive this?

We send this notification twice: once when you have used 90% of your data and again when you have used 100% of it. When you receive these notifications, we mention our Monthly Data Add-on option to help you avoid going over your data limit and incurring standard overage charges. Any data overage charges incurred before purchasing a Monthly Data Add-on will remain on your account.

If you purchase a Monthly Data Add-on after you’ve gone over your original data limit, we’ll also send you a notification when you’ve used up 70% of the extra data included in your add-on.

Why should I purchase more data with a Monthly Data Add-on instead of paying for overage?

A Monthly Data Add-on can help you stay in control of your data and prevent data overage charges and bill shock. By purchasing an add-on, you can add more data for a set price, so you limit standard overage rates, which can add up quickly and become costly.

Once you add a Monthly Data Add-on to your account, it will appear on your bill every month until you cancel it.

Should I buy more data or change my plan?

A Monthly Data Add-on offers you the convenience of getting more data without having to change your plan and can be added during your current billing cycle. Once you add it, it will appear on your bill every month until you cancel it. You can purchase and cancel this add-on anytime right from your mobile device, which is a great way to limit overage charges and manage your changing data .

However, if you think you’ll need more data over the long term, it may be better to change your plan so it better suits your data needs.

What plans are eligible for a Monthly Data Add-on?

A Monthly Data Add-on is available on Consumer Share Everything and non-share price plans.

What if I don’t know if I'll go over my data limit? Can I buy a Monthly Data Add-on once I am in overage?

Yes, you can purchase a Monthly Data Add-on at any time, even after you have gone over your data limit. However, any data overage charges you’ve incurred before purchasing this add-on will remain on your account, so it is best to purchase it before you go into overage.

I purchased a Monthly Data Add-on but I don’t see it listed under my add-ons in MyRogers.

A Monthly Data Add-on may not appear under your add-ons on the first or last day of your billing cycle. However, your usage information will be updated to include the add-on and will be reflected on your next bill.

Someone else on my account received a message to add more data, but I didn't. How come?

By default, only the primary line on a Share Everything plan will receive notifications. The primary line is typically the first line activated on the account. If you want to change the person who receives notifications, you can change the Data Manager for your account by following either one of the following sets of steps:

Option A:

  1. Sign in to MyRogers.
  2. On the top toolbar, select Profile & Settings.
  3. Scroll down to Data Alerts.
  4. Next to Choose your Data Manager, open the drop-down menu and select who you would like to receive notifications.

Option B:

  1. Sign in to MyRogers.
  2. Select your Share Everything plan.
  3. Scroll down to Manage Data Usage & Alerts.
    • On mobile? Proceed to next step.
    • On a computer? Simply click on Manage Data Usage & Alerts and go to next step.
  4. Next to the current Data Manager, select (change).
  5. Choose a new Data Manager from the drop-down menu and select Assign Data Manager.

How many times can I purchase a Monthly Data Add-on?

You can have up to 10 data add-ons per plan at any given time, regardless of your billing cycle. However, if you are approaching this limit, we recommend changing your plan so it better suits your data needs.

Will I still get a Monthly Data Add-on offer after changing my plan?

If you change your plan in the middle of your billing cycle, you will not receive any more Monthly Data Add-on offers until your next billing cycle.

Where can I find my current data overage rate?

To find your current data overage rate:

  1. Sign in to MyRogers.
  2. Select the wireless plan you want to review the overage rate for.
  3. Scroll down to My Wireless Package.
  4. Next to the name of your wireless plan, select View details.

Your overage rate will be listed among your plan details.

How do I cancel my Monthly Data Add-on?
